Patients of Corona  in the United Kingdom are being treated with Dexamethasone.

Experts in the UK announced on Tuesday that the lives of critically ill patients with corona virus could be saved with a cheap and widely available drug.

 

After a United Kingdom trial of the drug found it could save lives. The treatment is immediately available and already in use on the NHS, said health minister Matt Hancock. It is not by any means a cure but it is the best news we have had,” Hancock told parliament today. The UK’s chief medical officers say it should be used immediately, according to the BBC. A preliminary study found that the steroid, which is already widely prescribed for treating allergies and asthma, reduces the risk of dying from covid-19 by a third for patients on ventilators, and by a fifth for those receiving oxygen. Dexamethasone should only be taken if prescribed by a doctor. 

How dexamethasone help to treat a covid Patient?

This medicine is a steroid and people start taking it for a long time so they recommend it less to their patients.

However, two of its properties are useful in the treatment of critically ill patients with corona.

'Compared to other steroids, this water does not bind or hold in the body and water retention is a major problem in patients with Code 19.'

Its greatest feature is that the body's immune system fights the virus and prevents an unnecessarily severe reaction that causes inflammation in the arteries in the body and leads to death.

As the virus grows in the body, the immune system begins to react strongly .Dexamethasone prevents inflammation in the body, which can save the life of a covid patient.
